The hikers paradise
Practical tour information
Hop on our mountain bus to “Þórsmörk”, the valley that is hidden between glaciers. We depart for a day in Þórmörk early in the morning and stop briefly in four villages on the South coast to pick up passengers and at Seljalandsfoss waterfall where you can walk in to a cave behind the waterfall. In Þórsmörk you will find many short and long hiking trails that are very popular among the native hikers. You can buy a hiking map on the bus. We stop at three destinations in Þórsmörk: “Stakkholtsgjá” canyon, “Básar” and by the Volcano huts in “Húsadalur”. You will have roughly six hours in Þórsmörk to explore – on your own. At the end of a good day you can stop at the Volcano huts for a meal or some refreshments before you head back home. The road to Þórsmörk is an F-marked road so you need a 4×4 vehicle and special driving skills to pass unbridged rivers. Option to embark the bus in “Selfoss”, “Hella” or Hvolsvöllur where it is ideal to park rental cars for free.
