Skaftafell national park with rugged landscape, mountains, glaciers and waterfalls. Fabulous beaches; Reynisfjara black beach that was presently named the second best beach in Europe by the travel website Flight network and Diamond beach where the icebergs glitter like diamonds on the black sand and last but not least, Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon where you have time to take a boat trip among the floating icebergs.
This pass includes the highland stops either to Landmannalaugar or Þórsmörk from Hella - both places are very rural with unique landscapes. Bring your tent and put together your own adventure. You can hop on and off the bus at any bus stop and for as long as you like with in the passports time frame. This passport is valid for transfers from July 1st to August 31st.
The Ultimate bus passport is valid for up to 60 days, from July 1st - August 31st. This is a return trip from Reykjavík to the Glacier lagoon and back to Reykjavík again - plus a return fare to either Landmannalaugar or Þórsmörk.
Suggested 9 nights itinerary:
Day 1 - 3 From Reykjavík to Hveragerði
Spend two nights at the Hveragerði campsite. You can hike the Reykjadalur valley and take a riding tour with Sólhestar in Hveragerði.
Day 3 - 4 Hveragerði to Hella, and to Þórsmörk or Landmannalaugar
Hop on the Þórmörk bus there. Spend one night and one day hiking to Stakkholtsgjá. If you are a Game of Thrones fan you will recognize the area. Camp at Volcano Hus in Húsadalur.
Other possible choice - Hop on the Landmannalaugar bus and get ready for some hiking. Spend a day here or two, hike the area or even hike the Laugavegur route to Þórsmörk. There you can hop on our bus there to Seljalandsfoss waterfall and continue on your way towards the Glacier Lagoon.
Day 4 - 5 Fimmvörðuháls
Hike Fimmvörðuháls from Þórsmörk to Skógar. One night accommodation in Skogar recommended.
Day 5 - 7 Skógar to Skaftafell
This place is a must. So recommended stay is at least 2 nights. Excellent hiking trails, for example to Svartifoss waterfall, and great facilities.
Day 7 - 9 Skaftafell to the Glacier lagoon
The route ends at the Glacier Lagoon. and onward to Vík in Mýrdalur. Book an adventurous Paragliding tour in Vik. Explore the black sand coast line and drop in at the Lava Centre for a great show.
Day 9 Vík to Reykjavík.
Hop on and off bus transfer along the South Coast to the Glacier Lagoon.
Return fare from Hella to either Landmannalaugar or Þórsmörk.
Guidance, accommodation and meals
Warm clothes, good shoes, a tent or have arranged accommodation along the way.
to Þórsmörk and Landmannalaugar you need to bring your food.
The ticket is valid for one trip along the South Coast of Iceland.
There is no going back and forth, once you start heading back to Reykjavik, you can not travel again to the east.
You can choose between either Landmannalaugar or Þórsmörk.
You can hop on and off where ever you like to, just check in the transfer bus the day before, to secure your seat, to continue.
