South coast & glacier Walk
Take a walk on the icy side
Practical tour information
Explore the frozen world of Sólheimajökull (glacier) with experienced glacier guides. A glacier walk does not require any special skills and can be enjoyed by people with just normal fitness and you will have all safety equipment, such as helmet, crampons and ice axe on site. On the glacier you will see some peculiar formations such as crevasses, glacier sinkholes and ice sculptures that have been formed by the glacier over thousands of years.
We also do a little bit of sightseeing -we drive through a beautiful countryside and stop by two beautiful waterfalls, the mighty and powerful Skogafoss and interesting Seljalandsfoss. Skogafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in the country with a drop of 60 m (200 ft), and Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where you can walk in to a cave behind the waterfall and see the drop from a unique angle.
NOTE: Dress extremely well, preferably waterproof and warm clothing, a hat, gloves, good walking shoes, wear thick socks. Glacier walk does not require any special skills and can be enjoyed by people with normal fitness and in good health.
