Enjoy a day exploring the wonders of Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Black sands, golden sands, lava formations, view of the glacier Snæfellsjökull.
Snæfellsnes Peninsula is one of few places in Iceland with golden and black sand beaches. On this tour, we drive alongside sparkling fjord of Breiðafjörður, dramatic volcanic peaks, sheer sea cliffs and sweeping golden beaches which make the diverse and fascinating landscape of the Peninsula. The beauty and magic of Snæfellsnes has inspired literature since the middle ages. The West of Iceland is one of the most important settings in the Icelandic Sagas and was immortalized in Jules Verne novel: Journey to the Centre of the Earth.
We will take you along the coastline and Snæfellsjökull Glacier with beautiful mountain scenery. Our stops include Búðir with its golden beaches and the picturesque black church. Arnarstapi where you can take an optional 30-minute walk along the coastline to Hellnar. There you can see the small costal Hellnar Church which was built in 1945 on a picturesque site where a church was first raised in 1833. Djúpalónssandur where we will stop and stretch our legs on a black sand beach. One of the most famous Icelandic Mountains Mountain Kirkjufell is on our list with its beautiful small waterfall. A short photo stop at view point over the historic Berserkjahraun and Selvallavatn.
